Laser eye surgery and pain

Q: Does having laser hurt? – Helen

A: Having LASIK is essentially pain free. Generally the only thing felt is a mild grittiness for an hour or so. An alternative procedure, PRK, performed at Northern Beaches Eye Surgery only when a patient is inappropriate for LASIK, causes a moderate degree of pain for 2 days.

    Hi James
I am 65 and my long vision is not as sharp as it used to be. I can no longer distinguish the colour of the birds in the trees at a distance. I wear glasses for reading but do not need them for distance yet. Is there anything you can do.

      Dear Elizabeth,
Blade-free LASIK is a pain free procedure, post-op discomfort is limited to a mild irritation for a couple of hours. Vision and comfort the next day are excellent.
      Kind regards,
      James
